Shumeng CHENG Patent Attorney

Mr. Cheng provides agent service to clients in the technical fields relevant to material science, physics and chemistry.  His fund of knowledge in these technical fields allows him being capable of understanding various novel technical solutions accurately and rapidly. Hence, the business handled by him relates to a wide range of subjects, including various traditional and novel materials, such as semiconductor, glass, alloy, functional material, composite material, and the like, as well as chemical product and engineering, display technology, environmental project, oil recovery, medical device, etc.

Mr. Cheng's main tasks are handling patent applications filed in China for inland and abroad clients and handling patent applications filed in US and Europe for inland clients, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications. He is experienced in drafting application documents with high quality and providing professional legal and technical analysis and suggestion to clients during the examination procedure. Additionally, he also has experiences in FTO, invalidation and litigation.

Mr. Cheng obtained his bachelor degree in material science and technology from Tsinghua University, China, and then he went to Germany and earned his master degree (German Dipl-Ing.) in material science in Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. He joined CSPTAL and began his career in the IP field in April 2012, and earned the Patent Attorney Qualification in December 2013.  Since 2019, he has been qualified for administrative procedure.

Mr. Cheng's working languages are Chinese, English and German.  In 2017, he attended AIPPI China Youth IP Summer Seminar as one of the speakers in Chemistry Forum.
